March | Sustainability and Social Enterprise: South Africa
Course Highlights
The South Africa GIE provides a rich context to explore Sustainability & Social Enterprise and develop a global sustainability mindset. As an upper-middle-income, largest southern African economy and leading producer and exporter of critical minerals, South Africa offers valuable insight into the economic opportunities that come from doing business in resource-rich emerging markets. However, as an African country with limited freshwater resources and overly high unemployment, poverty, and inequality, it also presents unique environmental and social challenges that raise the responsibility bar for business. In addition, some of the earliest human remains in the fossil record are found in South Africa, while the legacy of apartheid lives on in any individual or business decision. This GIE will challenge students to delve into the culture, history and economy of South Africa, while becoming better business leaders.
