How to Apply

- It is highly recommended that you arrange appointments with the GIE Faculty, GIE Staff leaders, and MBA Global Programs Director (Valerie Slate) prior to submitting your application to discuss your interest. Contact information can be found on the specific GIE pages.
The essay should be a minimum of two pages (double spaced, 10-12pt font). Your full name and the GIE you are applying for should appear on your essay. Upload your document in the fields provided bellow.
Option 2: Video essay
The video essay should be 3-5 minutes long. Your full name and the GIE you are applying for should appear at the start of your video. Paste the URL to your video in the fields provided bellow.
Your essays should be focused on the academic, business, and cultural development reasons for your participation in a GIE program. Address all of the following topics in your essay:
- What are your primary motivations for participating in a GIE?
- Why have you chosen this particular program (region/theme)?
- How will this GIE contribute to your future success?
- A GIE is a shared experience; with that in mind, what qualities will you bring to the group to make it a successful experience for all?
- In good standing with the program and UNC both academic & code of conduct
- Strength of essay
- Motivation for participation
- Academic performance
- Communication during the application process
- Best fit for a diverse team
Students in all areas are welcome and encouraged to apply. Students need only demonstrate curiosity, interest, and desire to learn. Pending review of application materials, candidates may be invited to interview for a position. You will be notified of our acceptance decision by email within two weeks after the application deadline has passed. Each GIE will consist of no more than 25 students.
Sometimes space is limited due to number of spots available. If this happens, MBA Global Programs will work with you on your second choice program.
