Course Highlights

Stretching from the financial towers of São Paulo to the historic waterfronts of Paraty and the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s real estate landscape offers a rare combination of scale, diversity and rapid change. UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School’s Global Immersion Elective will bring students into this landscape to meet developers, institutional investors, lenders, municipal planners and community leaders. Through company visits, site tours and community meetings students will assess market fundamentals such as capital flows, land use and regulation, examine housing affordability, tourism-driven and commercial development, and evaluate climate resilience and community-led approaches that shape projects on the ground. The course asks students to apply the full MBA toolkit while developing technical skills, strategic judgment and cultural fluency, and to return with firsthand insight into how business, policy and civil society interact in one of the world’s most consequential emerging markets.
